The Definitive Guide To *DIFFERENT* Traffic Sources (time to diversify)

February 17, 2010|CPV,Marketing,Media Buying,Pay Per Click,Traffic42 Comments

Going through some of my comments I noticed that a lot of you have asked where I buy traffic from. Outside of the regular Google/Yahoo/MSN, here is my list of traffic sources along with some coupon codes and stuff for you too!

It’s time to diversify you’re traffic. Google is no longer the king of traffic and not to mention all the BS quality score and slapping affiliate accounts shit they do. Not that it should matter anyway, Google only accounts for 20% of all traffic on the internet!

So here is my list of traffic sources. We do a ton of media buys as well, and I posted a previous post on Media Buys previously.

CPV (aka PPV) Networks
Below is a list of some of my favorite CPV networks. Yeah there are a couple more, but not worth mentioning since they never converted for me. I’ve heard the same from a TON of people saying that other companies like Clicksor, etc. don’t convert well.

logo-1
Direct CPV
Coupon Code: TK25
The new kids on the block. They have a pretty strong network and growing daily. They seem to be targeting affiliate marketers as their main advertisers so this may be a good buy for a lot of you. If you go through my link and use the coupon code above they will give you $25 in free traffic. We have only tested a couple campaigns so far and it seems pretty decent. I’ll let you know once we get more results.

logoTraffic Vance
Traffic Vance has been around for a while now (I’ve been using them since 2007) and has the best converting traffic I have seen as far as CPV networks go. It is definitely getting more competitive in the CPV area, especially on Traffic Vance, but still plenty of room for everyone to play. Another thing about Traffic Vance is that not a lot of people are using the In Text Link traffic. It’s HUGE. Make sure you get a good rep cuz mine isn’t that good.

logo_mediatrafficMediaTraffic
Media Traffic is decent. I’ve been using them for about 2 years on and off. Their traffic is pretty much hit or miss. But if you use their Run of Network traffic, and just find an offer that converts on certain targets, that’s the best way to play with them.

logoHomeAdOnNetwork
I’ll be completely honest about AdOnNetwork. I barely use them, but I hear they are pretty decent. Anyone who has used them can chime in the comments and say wussup.

Third Party Engines
You would be surprised how much traffic 3rd party engines can bring you. Below is a list of my fav’s and one’s I’ve been using for a very long time.

7search-big-logo7Search
Coupon Code: DIGIPROMO
7 Search has been around for a LONG time. I remember buying traffic from them back in 2004 for so many markets. Especially back in the arbitrage days. :) Regardless, they have good traffic for certain markets and you not much competition in a LOT of markets. Use my link above and use the coupon code and get a 20% match on your initial deposit up to $200 bucks.

ban_imlogo-1Findology
I’ve worked with Findology back in the day along with 7Search. I used to ONLY use third party search engines when I first started marketing online. I can definitely say they have some good traffic and it converts REALLY good on some markets but not so great on other markets.

adbrite-logo
AdBrite

These guys are pretty good, but damn they have weird traffic. That’s because it comes from SUPER long tail websites. BUT here’s the best part. It’s cheap. So you can find like 1,000 sites that make you a couple bucks a day and you’re good to go. Hope you got some GOOD tracking because you’ll need it with this one. AdBrite also has banners you can promote with, which a lot of other networks don’t.

imagesMiva
Miva is another 3rd party engine I’ve been using for years. These guys have been around for a while and have decent traffic. Haven’t done anything with them recently, but plan on it soon. Get $25 matched when you deposit $25!

images-1Marchex
Marchex has been around forever. They used to be called something else and I can’t remember for the life of me what it used to be called. I’ve ran traffic with them for over 5 years now and nothing but good stuff. They have good placements in niche markets that can be dominated. Try to get a rep here if you can too, they have a SOLID team that will upload your campaigns AND optimize them for you. Can’t really beat that!

Self Serve Media Buys
We’ve been getting into Self Serve media buys for a while now. It’s usually hit or miss depending on the market you are going after. I’ve only experimented with two different networks with minimal results.

images-2BidPlace SB
BidPlace SB is decent. It’s an easy to use platform, but their review process takes forever. I’ve made SOME money with them, but haven’t played with them in about 6 months. Check it out if you can. It’s extremely easy and their reach is pretty damn good too!

images-3AdReady
This platform is pretty cool. You can create your own banners within their interface (kinda like MySpace Advertising’s but better) and you can select which sites you want your ad to show on from their network of sites. Slick.

I know I’m missing some networks here, but these are the one’s that came to my mind at first.

I’ve also been HEAVY on Facebook Advertising.  I’m not even using them for affiliate marketing.  But I am using them to build brand websites and authority sites.  I’m blowing a ton of money and not making a dime yet, but I am capturing VERY qualified people and have major plans to monetize all these peeps. Stay tuned for that post (probably won’t be for a couple months! ;) )

Great list of sites, Amish. Marchex had a division called “Enhance” a number of years ago. One of my first PPC experiences about 6 years ago. Like @Kevin, I get all misty thinking about that cheap traffic. Those were the days.

Thank your for the knowledge and wisdom wise leader, Thanks for the blog too, I really appreciate it. Since 2003-2004 i discover one of the realest human Internet marketers/entrepreneurs “Ewen Chia” pure and straight up real with it like you. and in 2007 i stumbled upon NewPPC and discovered you. You have done nothing but been real and upfront about how things work etc, and sharing some of your ideas with me and other enthusiast. You have definatley built that trust and proven your results everytime., and why should i join another network before yours ? Thats would be insane and i know by working with you and through you, its instant success. When I succeed by reaching my goals in business you do the same. You succeed by teaching me to reach my business goals. Thank You ;-) JUAN CITO

Btw…. The Marchex site you’re probably referring to was called GoClick.com. Ahhhh.. The good old days. Nothing like paying .02 cpc and sending them to ads where you make $5 per click! Would love to bring that goldmine back! ;)

    Hey, Amish…

I’m not quite into paid traffic (but on the contrary, I would say…) – however, you just put up a valuable list of resources that I’m going to bookmark, at least because, who knows? Some time I may need it.

For paid traffic fans, though, I bet it is very, very good to have this list of yours handy.. ;-)

As for me… I’ll still stay with my SEO for a while, but keep an eye on you too, in the mean time.

    Hi Amish Shah,

Thank you very much I have been waiting for this email seems like. I want to thank you for showing us the “Smiley Campaign ” and I made some change. Buy you lunch any time !

Here is what Google did :

After running the campaign 15 days all my Keywords started ending up in the garbage bin hit by “quality scores” and bids went up from 0.10 to 0.15 cents to 0.30 to 0.40 cents. Is that not awesome? Google said “Your bid below first page bids ” even when there are no ads for that keyword ! Quality scores is a LIARS excuse of jacking up your bids and sticking you in the rear.

Google never shows you what other people are bidding so there is no way to know what you should bid, yet they hit you with noble causes like ” User experience ” and ” Quality scores” and if you an “endless stupid sucker ” you will buy into that fiction. Well I don’t.

This is fucking outrageous greed and lining of Google’s pockets. You pay higher bids and your Quality scores improves and than they whack you for higher bids once again using the same tactic. You can never win this game, its all fucking rigged from the git go. I was new to PPC, but not anymore.

Amish, Some of the keywords had NO other ads and how did my bid falls from the front page? The campaign became unprofitable, soon I paused it and wrote them an email.

IF Google thinks this business model works they can have their arrogant head up their ass. No one will go back there, despite the reason they have higher traffic, unless you want to pay more than you can make. It works for them , not for you .

This is the sad part of PPC business, you have use other people’s platforms and bow to their demands and you have no control.

I am done with Google. Finished with these ass wipes.

    Dtons

PS: Writing them emails does nothing, I am spending 1000s dollars and they will not provide a telephone number to speak to anyone in that Adwords Department. Well Fuck that. No business needs to be supported for this attitude.

I’ve tried Media Traffic and targeted the largest and most popular keywords I could think of such as dating, dvds, books, etc and was still only getting less than a few hundred popups per day when I was expected more in the region of 10 million+

And ALL the ppv courses out there don’t explain it properly…. just like the rest of these networks, search engines and media buys. Shame someone doesn’t put a seriously comprehensive course together on them all and charge 10k+ but actually be WORTH it which is very rare. And 1-1 coach support to help you through. But no internet marketer will ever share their 1mill+ secrets per year in a few thousand dollar course.

Hence why so many people find it hard online… because courses simply aren’t good enough on teaching us how to use these companies. These courses just beat around the bush and I hate them for it. I’ve tried to setup so many campaigns it’s a joke. One thing which I wish I could afford, and that’s 1on1 coaching, that’s it! That’s how you skip passed all the BS and make a success without sending your round in circles.

Dude, it’s off-topic but I gotta say: You’re this big internet guru guy and you make bazillions of dollars every minute so my big question is WHY DO YOU NEED TO PUT GOOGLE ADS IN YOUR EMAILS???? It makes you look like a bit-player. It’s as if Bill Gates went out panhandling on the street corner whenever he had some free time. It’s lame.
