What is the definition of success?
success -noun
1. the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors.
2. the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.
3. a successful performance or achievement: The play was an instant success.
4. a person or thing that is successful: She was a great success on the talk show.
All of the above definitions seem to be right on point of what success is about. Everyone wants to be “successful”. But in everyone’s mind success is something different. Success to me isn’t about money and is not measured by money either. It’s about achieving certain goals and completing certain projects. If they bring in money, good, if not, then at least I completed what I set out to do. After all, everything IS testing right? Obviously, money plays a big role in what everyone thinks of as success, and I do have monetary goals tied to my projects, but it is NOT the most important factor.
So what are you doing to achieve success? What are your goals? What are your 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year, 5 year goals? Do you even know?
That would be Step 1 – writing all those down and reviewing it EVERY day.
The next step would be to PICTURE those goals. Picture exactly how it would feel, where you’ll be, what you’ll be eating, what you’ll be wearing, and what you’ll be hearing. Picture those goals intensely. Concentrate on them and you CAN make them happen. I even encourage everyone I know to build a vision board. There’s a pretty good tutorial on what a vision board is here – http://christinekane.com/blog/how-to-make-a-vision-board/.
I know this may sound hokey pokey, but honestly “the secret” is not a joke. I’ve been practicing manifesting even before “the secret” came out. The truth is, the law of attraction works. Now it doesn’t work by sitting back and just thinking it will come to you. You got to put in some work. But if you believe something enough and always be positive, it will come to you. You can achieve anything you want and get anything you want, as long as you can see it, eat it, shit it, sleep it, breathe it, live it, hear it and feel it. If you can’t, then you’ll have some major trouble getting what you want in life.
The key is, you HAVE to believe that it already happened. You literally have to brainwash yourself to make yourself think that it already happened. You were already there. It already happened.
Who says you can’t create your own future? And it’s set in stone? You can do anything you put your mind to.
Reminds me of a story I tell a lot of people when they see my “success”. They just don’t get how I was able to achieve all this in such a short period of time. Including my parents! But it all comes down to the law of attraction.
So the story goes like this –
When I was around 19 years old I was working at Compaq (in the dirty jerz) doing desktop support and keeping track of all our computer equipment. We used a software called Peregrine. Now for me to learn this software I had to fly out to San Diego and get trained. I remember going to San Diego and was like “HOLY SHIT, this place is insane.” Between the weather, the beaches, the cars, and the wealth that seemed to be around San Diego, I was floored. It seemed like paradise. I told myself maybe one day I would live here. Just “maybe”.
About three years go by and I was working for Campbell Soup. At Campbell Soup, I was working with data management and the tracking of computer/software equipment. They flew me back out to San Diego for some more training on the same software. This time I stayed in La Jolla and was absolutely stunned by how beautiful the place was. I remember going out for dinner one day and I saw Ferrari’s and Lambo’s pretty much everywhere I went (or at least I thought so). I couldn’t believe it. I was like “where the fuck am i ??!” But again, I told myself that one day I would live here and have a nice car. I didn’t really think too hard about it, just kind of wishful thinking at that time. I was working a dead end 9 to 5 and wasn’t making enough to move out to La Jolla.
So a couple years go by, and San Diego was always in my memories. The palm trees, the beach, the cars, the weather. Just perfect.
Around 2004 I started my online journey. Destined to make it out to San Diego. Destined to quit my job and get the hell out of “corporate america”. I busted my ass for far too long and could not picture myself doing this for the rest of my life. At the time, I was working at America Online doing campaign optimization and data analysis and that is what really made me think about how big this online advertising world is. Once you get in, it kind of sucks you in. I spent 9 hours at work and then would come back to my hotel (since I was consulting) and work another 6 hours on online stuff. I was making decent money, but not as much as my salary. Just enough to make a heftier down payment on the new house I bought. I told myself I would quit once I doubled my salary.
A couple months later an opportunity came my way to work for Morgan Stanley and I took it ASAP. It was only 30 minutes away from my new house and I didn’t have to commute to DC anymore for America Online. At Morgan Stanley I worked with the trading desk and did a lot of data analysis and data mining. It was fun, but again, not my style. I was SO determined to make it on my own and I saw results coming in pretty fast. I was almost doubling my salary doing online marketing stuff and then the big day hit. I found a small niche and just caked out in a couple months. I made QUADRUPLE my salary in 2 months.
The day I got that check was the day I quit my job.
But here’s the thing. I was DETERMINED. I was focused. I knew where I wanted to be, how much money I was going to make and what my life would be like after I quit. I pictured all of it. I dreamed it, I lived it, I breathed it.
About 7 months after I quit my job, I decided to head out to San Diego. Why? Because an opportunity came to work with David Wolfe and manage his online marketing. So I packed up some stuff in a car and decided to drive out in my G35. I told a friend of mine to join me in the car and we spent about 4 days driving out to the west coast.
I made it out to La Jolla and moved into my new crib. It was a block from the beach and life was good. A couple months go by and I realized that I lost my vision. I lost my drive for what I wanted this all for. I was helping another company with their online marketing, but in that time, I lost my own vision of who I wanted to be. To me it was just another day on the beach. Sure the money was coming in, but it slowed down. Eventually, about 2-3 months later, my income went down the whole. I was working around the clock and couldn’t really achieve anything. It’s like I was just spinning my wheels and nothing positive would come out of it.
And that’s when it hit me – I wasn’t really concentrating on any new goals. I didn’t really have a vision of what I wanted and when I wanted it.
So I sat down, wrote down my goals and started living those goals everyday. I already knew where I would be. I already knew how much I would be making. I already saw my projects being completed. Sure enough, 5 months later, I hit all those goals and was doing insane numbers. Beyond my wildest dreams actually. BUT, these are the numbers I asked the universe for. This is what I envisioned. Next thing I knew I bought a pimp ride and was sportin’ it everywhere I went. (Maserati GranTurismo S for all you car fans…)
Here I was – a full 9 years after I went to San Diego for the first time. Living on the water with a nice car. It hit me MUCH later that this is actually what I wanted for 9 years. Subconsciously!
3 months after that, I had an office downtown and was running a company with my biz partner with 10 employees.
Since then, my vision has expanded and my goals have broadened. It’s NOT about the money. It’s about what I want to do with my life and what I want to accomplish with the money I earn. I’ll save that for another post since this one is getting long as hell. But it’s pretty crazy stuff, from helping the poor, to building libraries in 3rd world countries, to buying an island, to starting an archeological mission and much more.
The human brain works off success and the completion of tasks. You are satisfied when you complete something. You have a sense of happiness and joy when something is finished. Endorphins and serotonin get released when you accomplish something! Whether your idea makes money or not is a different story. That just means, you didn’t map out the whole vision in your head before hand!
What is the moral of this story? Who the hell knows. But what I do know is that if you believe in something and picture everything around it, you can accomplish anything you want. The universe works in mysterious ways and it’s all about the energy that you put out. The more positive energy you put out, the more you’ll get back in the same form. If you envision and believe something you want to accomplish and always put out positive energy towards THAT, you WILL get it.
When you put out negative energy, you can be assured you’ll get the same back. Whether it be a parking ticket, sickness, or whatever. I remember thinking SO negatively in the past. I remember this one particular thing that I use to think so negatively about and almost thought that it actually happened, and then it did. It killed me inside. I still have not mastered not thinking negatively. Everyone does it.
Here’s a perfect example -
Think about all the bad times in your life. Now try and think of all the good times in your life. It’s pretty hard to think about all the good times, but very easy to think of the bad times. That’s human nature. The key is to catch yourself every time you think negatively and reverse your thoughts. I always have random negative thoughts pop in my head. Especially when I’m driving! But lately, I just try to think positively and instead of bashing the other person, place, or thing, I just think about how that moment was a good moment and there WAS a reason for that.
So don’t put it off any longer. Figure out what you want in life and figure out your goals. What is the perfect day for you? How do you want to live that perfect day? Now, how can you get it? After you figure that out, breathe it, sleep it, shit it, eat it, see it, live it, feel it. It will come.
Wow this post is long. I’ll have to continue it again some other day!

Fantastic post man. Your best yet. I’ve been seeing more of my money goals come true because I’ve placed the money as second priority to my true goals of having the life I want. Your own journey to this was inspiring to read about. Thanks for sharing.

That was powerful, man. Straight from the heart and spot on target. I knew you were some kinda awesome Internet Guru, in the marketeers sense. But, I think you might be pulling double duty on the Guru part with your philosophical vent. You might like a book I just finished by Eldon Taylor entitled Mind Programming. It’s helping me to put that negative self-talk BS into the box, and letting the posi-talk frolic like a fat kid in a candy store. Thanks for the post. It was inspriing.

Amish! I know it sounds weird, but I see myself when I look at you. You could notice this at seminar.I didn’t know your story in details, I just felt the same “spirit”. Imaging town deep in Russia at times when USSR was strong and behind the “iron curtain”, I went to USA exhibition (wild guess what they were showing over there), I don’t know what exactly clicked in my mind, but I decided that it will be time, don’t know when, that I will live in NYC.
, but that time I said to radio: ” Yes, I would like this, and big time and ,damn, long time!” People around me was pretty sure that I lost my mind, got crazy…
I was teenager at that point. Since then everything that I’ve seen or heard related to USA had special meaning for me. But still I had no idea how to realize my dream, I knew that being pure Russian and living in USSR, I had not even tiny chance to immigrate. Well, I continued to picture myself walking Manhattan Streets and Avenues.Life went on, I got married, got two sons and one day heard in the news on radio “If you’d like to live and work in states, here is Visa Lottery!!” Well, that was nice to hear, in general, I don’t talk to TV or radio
So, I went to American Embassy, fill out lottery application for me and my husband … and then I’ve been forced to forget about this completely, something very wrong happened in my life…
One month after this application, my husband passed away, he left me along with two teenagers – sons. That was end of everything for me. As a joke 2 month after his death I got letter, that he won Visa Lottery…
I definitely didn’t picture this in my mind. When I called to American Embassy and told them my story , they said that they are very sorry but you can’t use his winning. I was crashed… one more time…
When life goes wrong and wrong in such a terrible way, all you have left – just your dreams, so I still was walking streets and avenues in my mind… crying…
It was almost one year gone, when I got up in the morning with just one thought in my head – they changed the rules and now I can go to USA, so I called and heard exactly the same phrase, I’ve been told “the rules are changed, you can go”, but I had only three months left to complete all paperwork (for other people, it was given 1 year).
Well it was time “breathe it, sleep it, shit it, eat it, see it, live it, feel it”.
Even interview in USA Embassy I had last day before they end the program for that year…
I did it!!!
Almost whole first year , here, in NYC, I was walking “the streets and avenues” with tears running none stop. It was whole ocean of emotions and the deepest appreciation…for lesson on how to achieve everything you desire – the power of making choice. Well, that was my version of the Law of attraction way before “The Secret”.
May be it will help somebody.

Say Amish That was very good man. Your story reminds me of that movie “The Secret” Your right about everything that you said, what ever you want you have to vision it, plan it and then attract it, see your self doing it ! You really had an impact on my CPA business. Thank man !!

Awesome stuff Amish,
You hit the cover off of the ball on this post my friend! I needed this extra boast of assurance and confidence. I strongly believe every word you just said, and I act on every thing you just talked about. You have to vision what you want your life, business, relationship to be. Envision yourself driving that Maserati GranTurismo S every time you get into your current vehicle.
Your thoughts become things. The more positive thoughts you have greatly increases your future outcome of greater success. I’m looking forward to your next post that will be related with this one. You speak with the passion to encourage and motivate entrepreneurs to be the best they can be, and I like that man.. Keep up the Great Value..
I’m grateful that you have started to blog now, Why didn’t you start doing this earlier? What made you start blogging now? Just wondering, great stuff man.. keep it up!

Nice Cool Calm Content..Thanks. One of the tenants of the Law of Attraction often overlooked is the Law of Vibration. Actually thoughts do not become things. It goes much deeper..to your vibrational energy and the way you manage your vibrational output. I’m just about to finish my e-book called WAKE UP REAL. I will forward you a free copy when it’s finished. So glad to know your’e into the LOA. Peace, Larry Williams

Amen to that brother…amen…
I was first introduced to “The Secret” about a year ago. Even before that I had pictures posted around my house of things that I wanted. I’m a bit of a health nut (6 days a week at the gym, 2 hours a day, starting at 5am), so to get what I wanted, I stayed off the scale, and I posted pictures of ripped, buffed bodies on my fridge. Then, every time I got the desire to cave and binge, I saw my goal, and was inspired, and ate something healthy. Damn right it worked!
Now, my wife and I each have 2 poster board vision boards right beside our bed. I scan it every morning and every night before going to bed. We have family vision boards downstairs. My two girls (3 and 5) also have their own vision boards.
Amish, you hit the nail on the head when you talked about “The Secret” won’t mysteriously attract what you want, if you aren’t open to seeing it. You have to believe it will happen, and feel how you will feel when you hit your goals. Staying positive is simple when you’re surrounded by positive things.
Great article! Love it! Reassured me that everything that I’m doing and working on is taking me in the right direction. Now I just need to catch up, since you’ve had a few years head start on me
Later man,
Alex

Great post. For reference on the workings of the stuff you mentioned, like positive thinking vs. negative thinking, e.g. the ‘universal laws’ and the ‘law of attraction’, etc., (way before the “Secret” by the way), I highly recommend a visit to Esther and Jerry Hicks web site, info and books (www.abraham-hicks.com), who are THE authority (and) web site for this. Personally, I suscribe to their ‘Daily Quotes’, which I highly recommend for everybody for starting out the day (can be compared to a daily super food smoothie for the mind). Besides this and something completely different, and right to the point – and something about companies and your company in particular – if you need a tremendous customer support person, I would like to be considered. I am a strong fan of unparallelled customer support, and mean it. I am not wrong – think Tony Hsieh, who recently sold Zappos.com this summer to Amazon.com for $928m. Zappo’s company culture based their big success on Supreme customer support (By the way here is a link to a cool youtube video from Jeff Bezos about Amazon and Zappos (Jeff Bazos started Amazon.com and is the buyer of Zappos.com) on some of his thinking on this (video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hxX_Q5CnaA&feature=player_embedded). Ok, long enough, have a good one, Amish, take care.

Great post which hits on quite a few key posts around desires, visions and beliefs. It really does help to start to change the mindest by having stimuli which help focus you towards your goals. Also as you pertinently observe, you need to move your goals as you start to achieve them to keep stretching and pushing yourself towards self-fulfilment.
Thanks for the useful pointers

Amish,
I started online marketing a few years ago. At the time, I was completely unhappy and going thru shitty job after shitty job. I would work all day, then come home and work on my online marketing, just like you. I finally made enough to quit my job, as well. Now I am making more than ever, but far from what I want to be making and far from what you are making.
But, it allowed me to pay off all my debt and move from northern Indiana to sunny Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve been here about a year and am soon going to be moving to the San Diego area. I’ve only been there once. If there are any tips you can give me about the area please email me.
Also, I’m sure you have plenty of friends, but I won’t know anyone when I get there, so if you wanna hang out, drink some beers or talk business, that would be cool.

Amish, take it or leave it, what you have posted here is hands down
the best course you have ever put out, regardless of whatever criteria you care to consult.
It is the only solid foundation to “success” that never fails in any circumstance.
Everything else you have put out, be it courses, exclusive seminars and thus and so, is merely icing on the cake, so to speak.
Your post at once speaks to the issue of each of us having to know precisely what we want first, and moving on to a deliberately focused imagination with feelings. Physical action is a necessary secondly part.
Okay mates, let us DO it, we can each have beautiful and rich lives and indeed a far better, much much better planet without any scarcity B.S.
We love you Amish.

Hey what’s poppin’Amish
I really enjoyed reading this inspirational post.
I’ve been tuning into you for seems like a couple years now.
I have a free Hexatracker account.
Man Homie, looking from below ground here deep in the hood,
many things are trying to suck the hope, of any decent existence,
straight from my universal sprit, and soul out of me.
Like them big sewer vaccuums.
Money is what I need right now to help myself, and others.
My mind is in good condition, my body is still hangin’.
Money kept me from getting the magin bullet, I so desperatly needed.
I’ll be glad, & happy when I can say it’s not the money.
Thanks for this lesson, as well as the other lessons that
I’ve read, saw, and heard from you Amish.
From the Intro to Hexatrack until now
Coming from a real G, Master Marker, I’m fellin’ you homie.

Absolutely great. very humbling man, also good to know when you came from, that is proof of your own success and years of hard work. Amish, I’d say. There are about You and other handful of Internet Tycoons, Marketer, Internet Entrepreneurs who I trust (Ewen Chia, Joel Comm, Etc) to be completely real, honest and straight-up in this game.
When I first did business online, was like my Sophomore year in high school, I had a small promotional deal with Vendi Universal online only, until the company was sold to download dot com. Then I seek farther distribution opportunities.
By 2002, I launched my first online business venture from scratch.
A simple small online shop selling a 1 or 2 dozen toys and gadget items to choose from. This grew into a learning process from here out. I was always artistically creative and even more with the computer. I bought retail/wholesale items and sold them for $5 more to make profit. at this time my goal was to only make a little extra money.
I decided to open a checking account with $100.. and i pointed it to a free sever like geocities. This was before I knew how to install any shopping cart script. I set it up in that style and looked nice, but I did not have any way to accept payments except Check or Money Order.
My aunt told me to get a merchant / PayPal account. So i did that, soon as a put those buttons up I got a few orders a week. This is when i haven’t even sent traffic to my site. I began processing these orders. I noticed one item stood out and was purchase more then others for some reason. “Cork Guns” were purchased at about $50 each. A year later I looked back at why this was a tiny success and it was something so simple and FREE that we forget about or don’t take as a priority, its proper “Keywords” and “Meta Tags” this is where the FREE traffic was coming from.
At a Senior in high school, I finally decided was I wanted to be in life.. not an engineer, scientist, i wanted to be an entrepreneur / self-employed business owner. This one experience changed my entire life because I saw the income potential and freedom of working dead end jobs.
Lights, camera, action! I took my dreams into action and made them reality.
Success has nothing to do with the amount of money you make, but the amount of people you help. Success is accomplishing your goals and doing what you said you would do. success is growth therefore success is pathway to prosperity.
Many people want extra extraordinary success, but give up when they see how much work is involved. And another the sad thing about it, they never want to give to prosper and receive 100,000 fold.
I motivated myself to become successful, becoming successful takes time, but it well worth achieving.
I did research, learned the knowledge and got the wisdom and made a way.
I knew what I had to do to become successful so I took the risk and did it, even though sometimes it was stressful.
